Page Sidebar
Default Pages can display a sidebar containing an automatic table of contents and manually curated Quick Links. The sidebar is not available on the Homepage or Landing Pages.
Table of Contents
Section titled “Table of Contents”The On this page navigation is generated automatically from eligible h2 headings in the page’s main content.
Use headings to divide the page into meaningful sections. If there are no eligible headings, the table of contents remains empty.
Useful Headings
Section titled “Useful Headings”- Write short headings that describe the section clearly.
- Use
h2for the main sections readers should see in the table of contents. - Use
h3and lower levels to structure content within anh2section. - Do not choose a heading level only for its visual size.
Quick Links
Section titled “Quick Links”Quick Links are added from the page-side editor panel and appear below the table of contents.
Each link can include:
| Setting | Input type | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Label | Text | ✓ |
| URL | URL | ✓ |
| Open in a new tab | Checkbox | Optional |
Quick Links can point to related pages, documents, external services, or other useful destinations that do not belong in the table of contents.
Use a concise, descriptive label instead of displaying the destination URL.
When to Use the Sidebar
Section titled “When to Use the Sidebar”The table of contents is most useful on longer pages with several distinct sections. Quick Links are useful when readers need supporting resources or frequent next steps.
Avoid adding links merely to fill the sidebar. A short page can work well without either element.
