Admin Tools and Special Behaviors

This page documents theme behavior that affects administrators and editors inside WordPress admin.

Location:

  • Settings -> Polimi Theme Settings

Available options:

  • enable beta theme updates
  • enable Testimonials
  • show theme version in the admin bar
  • enable restricted Custom CSS access

When enabled:

  • prerelease theme versions such as beta or RC builds can be offered to the site

When disabled:

  • prerelease theme versions are filtered out
  • only stable releases are surfaced

When enabled:

  • the Testimonials post type becomes visible in the admin UI
  • Testimonials archive settings become available in the Customizer

When disabled:

  • the Testimonials admin UI is hidden

When enabled:

  • administrators see the active theme version in the top admin bar
  • prerelease versions are visually flagged

This is useful when testing beta builds or maintaining multiple environments.

The theme can gate the native Customizer Additional CSS feature behind a protected setting.

Important note:

  • enabling this requires a valid codeword checked against a bundled hash
  • if not enabled, the Additional CSS section is removed and CSS edits are blocked

The theme adds dashboard widgets for:

  • quick actions to create News, Projects, and optionally Testimonials
  • a site overview showing the site title, school, theme, plugin, and WordPress versions

The theme hides:

  • the default Posts post type
  • the Comments menu and admin-bar item

This helps keep the admin experience focused on the custom content model.

On normal pages, the theme adds a Page Title Section meta box with:

  • supertitle
  • subtitle

This box is intended as a stable part of the page editing flow.

The theme includes an admin-side tool that can reset page and post meta-box layout preferences for the current user.

This is mainly useful if editors accidentally hide or rearrange editing panels and want to restore a clean layout.

If a theme update is available, administrators with theme update capability see a dashboard notice with a direct update link.
