Admin Tools and Special Behaviors
This page documents theme behavior that affects administrators and editors inside WordPress admin.
Theme Settings Page
Section titled “Theme Settings Page”Location:
Settings -> Polimi Theme Settings
Available options:
- enable beta theme updates
- enable Testimonials
- show theme version in the admin bar
- enable restricted Custom CSS access
Beta Theme Updates Beta
Section titled “Beta Theme Updates ”When enabled:
- prerelease theme versions such as beta or RC builds can be offered to the site
When disabled:
- prerelease theme versions are filtered out
- only stable releases are surfaced
Testimonials Toggle Beta
Section titled “Testimonials Toggle ”When enabled:
- the Testimonials post type becomes visible in the admin UI
- Testimonials archive settings become available in the Customizer
When disabled:
- the Testimonials admin UI is hidden
Theme Version In The Admin Bar
Section titled “Theme Version In The Admin Bar”When enabled:
- administrators see the active theme version in the top admin bar
- prerelease versions are visually flagged
This is useful when testing beta builds or maintaining multiple environments.
Restricted Custom CSS Access PRO
Section titled “Restricted Custom CSS Access ”The theme can gate the native Customizer Additional CSS feature behind a protected setting.
Important note:
- enabling this requires a valid codeword checked against a bundled hash
- if not enabled, the
Additional CSSsection is removed and CSS edits are blocked
Dashboard Widgets
Section titled “Dashboard Widgets”The theme adds dashboard widgets for:
- quick actions to create News, Projects, and optionally Testimonials
- a site overview showing the site title, school, theme, plugin, and WordPress versions
Default WordPress Cleanup
Section titled “Default WordPress Cleanup”The theme hides:
- the default
Postspost type - the
Commentsmenu and admin-bar item
This helps keep the admin experience focused on the custom content model.
Page Title Section Meta Box
Section titled “Page Title Section Meta Box”On normal pages, the theme adds a Page Title Section meta box with:
- supertitle
- subtitle
This box is intended as a stable part of the page editing flow.
Resetting Meta Box Layout
Section titled “Resetting Meta Box Layout”The theme includes an admin-side tool that can reset page and post meta-box layout preferences for the current user.
This is mainly useful if editors accidentally hide or rearrange editing panels and want to restore a clean layout.
Theme Update Notice
Section titled “Theme Update Notice”If a theme update is available, administrators with theme update capability see a dashboard notice with a direct update link.
